While We Were Out

Here is a quick rundown of things we missed while out:

Pixar’s “Toy Story” won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, but lost out to “The King’s Speech” for Best Picture. In any case, a huge congratulations goes out to the gang at Pixar for their accomplishments, and here is to many more!

– And speaking of Pixar; the film that John Lasseter apparently tried to have cancelled, “Gnomeo and Juliet”¬†was the #1 film at the Box Office this past weekend, and now sits at around $75 million in domestic sales. Even with this figure in place, I’m still not so sure I don’t agree with Mr. Lasseter.

– You know what else happened? Not much really. I guess I picked a good week to be out.

Pixar’s Hawaiian Vacation

Please stop sending me the link to the scans for Pixar’s “Hawaiian Vacation” short that will air before “Cars 2.” It’s not that I don’t appreciate it, but I just don’t know that concept art showing the “Toy Story” characters in Hawaiian gear is all that interesting.

I’m sure it will be great, but until some proper screencaps hit from the actual short, or a bit more is revealed, outside of Gary Rydstrom Directing, let’s focus on more important things.

Like when that damn “Hoodwinked” sequel is coming out.

The Coolest Pixar Toys You’ll See Today

I’ve got a massive collection of animated film toys. I’m not saying that to brag, as the average value of each one is about .30 cents, and looking back on things I probably should have invested in stocks or something.

In any case, when I see things like the 3D prints that “Toy Story 3” Director, Lee Unkrich, posted on his Twitter profile, I begin shaking like I’ve got a paint can shaker strapped to my head.

These sort of make my collection of cheap “Ice Age 3” Happy Meal toys look like cheap “Ice Age 3” Happy Meal toys.

Big news for the folks over at Pixar today, as their film, “Toy Story 3” was not only nominated for Best Animated Film, but also for the coveted Best Picture statue.

“How to Train Your Dragon” also received Best Animated Film and Music nods, and “TS3,” received additional nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay, Original Song, Sound Editing, and Best Use of a Stuffed Unicorn in a Motion Picture.

Congrats to both Dreamworks and Pixar, as both films are more than deserving of the honors.

Toy Story 3 is Golden

In case you missed it, “Toy Story 3” won Best Animated Feature Film at tonight’s Golden Globe Awards.

This was, without a doubt, a stellar year for animated motion pictures, and the award could have easily gone to number of other films on the list. That being said, I can’t find fault in it going to “TS3,” even if the film did depress the heck out of me.

Congrats to everyone involved!

Now let’s find out if the hard push Pixar is making nabs them a Best Picture Oscar later this year.

You can find a full list of winners on the official Golden Globes Site.
